Toulouse and Lourdes

We know our way around the Metro quite well! After a rather noisy night with neighbours who seemed to forget that they were not the only people staying at the hotel, we headed for the bus. We were about 100 metres away from the stop when we saw the bus approaching and we waved madly. The driver drove to us and pulled over, nice eh?! Over the last few days we have helped people on escalators: women trying to move suitcases and babies down an escalator and a woman whose high heel got caught in one of the grooves in the escalator and was ripped off so maybe we are having good Karma.

We had coffee and croissants in the centre Ville before catching the train to Lourdes. The journey was perhaps two hours long. Our first stop was the Tourist Information office and the clerk showed us the route to our hotel on the map and we followed the route faithfully AND Mary and Maggie thought I was crazy for choosing a hotel SO far out if town! We finally arrived and had a delicious lunch at 'La Galery' and then we asked for directions to the Sanctuary. It turned out that our hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the Tourist Info office but our route took us around town!?!?!

The town has lovely floral displays and the architecture is delightful. The stretch of road around the Sanctuary is cluttered with vendors of all sorts of religious things including all sizes of holy water containers that range from 25 millilitres to 4 litres!

Inside the area, the place is quite beautiful.
