We were outside the church and saw a woman carrying 4 litres of holy water on her head. She told us that she was from Camaroon and I asked her how she was going to take the water on the plane. She IS from Camaroon but she lives in Bordeaux. We saw people from all over the world.
We road a funicular up to the Pic de Jer and had a beautiful view of the countryside and the Pyrenees. Mary showed us the types of hills we will have to climb no need for ropes and crampons!!!
We ate lunch in an Italian market. I had penne and pistachio. They said the recipe comes from Sicily and it was tasty. Mary doesn't eat pasta at home so Silvio is going to be really impressed that she had to go to Southern France to eat spaghetti!
Once again, we walked at least 15 km. We bought fruit, cheese and pâté for dinner and then Maggie and I thought we would watch the evening procession.
Parish and diocesan groups lined up carrying there banners lined up and processed into the main square in front of the church were people representing the groups lead the rosary. There were huge numbers in wheelchairs that lined up in rows ( like a parking lot ) by the church. After 30 minutes or so, we felt some big drops of rain and within seconds everyone was running or arolling for cover. I really have not experienced a down pour like it. It felt like several garden hoses were pointed at me! Within minutes I was literally soaked to the skin and the water was over my shoes. Thunder and lightning were chasing around the sky. It took 2 days for my shoes to dry.
